Faith in Action at CTK

At Christ the King Catholic High School, we believe that faith is not only something we learn about and celebrate through prayer and worship; it is something we are called to live. Guided by our mission, “Love one another as I have loved you” (John 15:12), we encourage our students to put their faith into action through service, compassion and a commitment to the common good.

As a Catholic school, we seek to form young people who recognise their responsibility towards others and who are inspired by the example of Jesus Christ to make a positive difference in the world around them. Through charitable outreach, environmental stewardship, leadership opportunities and service to others, students are encouraged to live out Gospel values in practical and meaningful ways.

Faith in Action can be seen in both the large and small acts that shape daily life at Christ the King. Through initiatives such as our Starburst Awards, students are recognised for positive behaviour, effort and contributions to the school community. Staff also celebrate acts of kindness, compassion and service through the ‘I Heard a Wispa’ initiative, recognising those who quietly make a difference to the lives of others. Together, these initiatives help to foster a culture where Gospel values are lived out each day and where every person is valued and respected.

We are proud of the opportunities students and staff have to serve others through initiatives such as Saints in Service, the CAFOD Big Lent Walk, student-led Easter Markets, our Advent Foodbank Appeal and the annual Santa Dash in support of St Catherine’s Hospice. During the Christmas season, staff work closely with the parish and local community partners to support families in need through food hampers and Christmas gifts, helping to ensure that families within our school community are able to experience the joy and hope of Christmas. These opportunities encourage students to recognise the dignity of every person and respond with generosity, compassion and love.

Our Saints in Service group provides students with opportunities to lead charitable initiatives and explore how faith can be lived out through service. Students are encouraged to recognise the needs of others, stand up for what they believe is right and use their gifts in the service of those around them. Through these experiences, they begin to understand that every person has the capacity to make a difference.

Our Laudato Si’ Club encourages students to respond to Pope Francis’ call to care for our common home. Through environmental projects, including the development of a Peace Garden, students learn about stewardship, responsibility and the importance of caring for God’s creation. By transforming an overgrown area of the school site into a space for reflection and wellbeing, students are helping to create a lasting legacy for future generations.

As we continue to develop Faith in Action at Christ the King, our aim is to provide meaningful opportunities for students across all year groups to serve others, develop leadership skills and grow in confidence. We want every young person to understand that faith is not simply something we believe, but something we live.

Ultimately, we hope that every student leaves Christ the King with Christ at the centre of their lives, inspired to serve others with compassion, courage and humility. By living out our mission to “Love one another as I have loved you”, we seek to form young people who use their gifts and talents to make a positive difference in their communities and in the wider world.
